Do you need a laptop you can use for your business? If you answered yes, then the Lenovo ThinkPad R61i may be all you need. When you look at the ThinkPad R61i, you’ll notice it for being budget friendly. The reason the laptop is so cheap? It comprises of cheap parts even though the manufacturers could have made it more in line with the expensive laptop models.
The design of the Lenovo ThinkPad R61i is slightly different than other laptop models. It weighs in at 2.9 kilograms for just being a 15.4-inch machine. The chassis, black in color, is made from robust plastic material. Despite its heavy feel, the space on the machine is well used. The keyboard has tons of space in and around it and the thick bezel gives the machine additional rigidity.
It’s important that there are no reflections of a laptop screen and the ThinkPad R61 makes sure with the standard TFT coating that little to no reflections are affecting it. The screen of the laptop is evenly bright and its wide viewing angle allows multiple people see a presentation being played on the screen at once. The integrated GPU easily handles the computer’s graphics.
Sometimes, a person needs a decent size keyboard and the Lenovo ThinkPad R61i does just that. It’s not of the same quality that previous ThinkPad’s had but it’s still easy and pleasant to use. You’ll notice that the keys are held in place and feel solid as you use them. There is no touchpad for the mouse. Instead, you are going to see a pointing stick with split mouse buttons. This takes some getting used to.
So what are the hardware components that make up the Lenovo ThinkPad R61i? It has a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo along with 2048MB of memory. These hardware components allow the computer to load programs with little difficult and run them effortlessly. The laptop can handle the Windows Vista Business operating software with no problems.
There is a noticeable problem with the ThinkPad R61i when you run multiple high-end tasks. Yet, for everyday, mundane tasks such as checking email, listening to music or typing out documents, there are very little problems with the machine. Due to its four-hour battery usage, this laptop works best in an office or home.
When you want to connect to an outside source, you can easily do so with the three USB ports located on either side of the ThinkPad. You’ll also have a DVD rewriter, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 wireless LAN and an ExpressCard slot.
Like any machine out on the market, there are pros and cons. However, the Lenovo ThinkPad R61i is reliable and performs, as it should. It’s a great laptop for the replacement of a desktop. It goes without saying that the Lenovo ThinkPad R61i doesn’t need much else to it and works great for everyday use.
